Neral – Matheran Mountain Railway

I like rail-fanning though I am not giving too much time on my this hidden activity. But one day I will be active rail-fanning guy.
Want to know all about train and trains. Even though today also its like daily adventure traveling via train in mumbai.

So we have decided to visit Matheran via Neral-Matheran Mountain Railways.
The train timings are very convenient. There are very few routes in India where toy trains are running. You can see http://www.trainenquiry.com/StaticContent/Special_Hills.aspx like for more detail.

In season time and on weekends the trains are running full, so you make sure you book train tickets well in time. You can book tickets via IRCTC website. So we did the same we have already booked the tickets. 🙂

Nerail is situated in Mumbai – Pune rail road. From Neral we can catch Matheran Train which takes 90 minutes average.

Answers from Sri Sri Ravishankar of Art of Living on Lord Krishna’s Gita Question.

Today I got mail from Rajendran Ganesan (http://shanthiraju.wordpress.com/) I am very fond of his blog. One of my favorite blog.

He sent this mail… I just liked it… I am printing as it is.

An answer from Sri Sri Ravishankar of Art of Living, for a question which is grossly misunderstood by many of us, I believe.
>>>>
Q: Lord Krishna has said in the ‘Gita’ to sacrifice the fruits of action. Is

it possible to do that in real life?

Sri Sri: No, Krishna never asked you to sacrifice the fruits of action. He
says, in any case you have no control over the fruits of your actions.
Therefore put your attention on the performance of action. While running a
race, have the attention on yourself and not on the other tracks. His advice
is utterly practical.

Q: Then, don’t we have to look at the competition?

Sri Sri: Life is complex. Take this and that together. If you are not aware
of what is happening around you, you will miss out. Improve your intuitive
ability.

My हिंदी Translation for easy understanding.

Happy Worship. Happy Hard Work. Happy Success.

Installing Groovy-Grails on Ubuntu

Now a days I am working with Groovy/Grails. This is really awesome language. Installing this in Ubuntu is very easy and this can be done very fast and in easy way. So how I installed Groovy/Grails up and running.

First install openjdk and groovy. Since in ubuntu these 2 packages are already available. So install it via apt-get.

sudo apt-get install openjdk-6-jdk
sudo apt-get install groovy

java -version
java version "1.6.0_18"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.8) (6b18-1.8-0ubuntu1)
OpenJDK Client VM (build 14.0-b16, mixed mode, sharing)

groovyConsole

Now for installing Grails. We need to install via binary zip file.
Get the latest Binary Zip file and save to some of your location.
Unzip the folder and move to /usr/share/grails/
I just moved grails to /usr/share/ because ubuntu install Groovy at /usr/share/groovy so making the similarity.

Now Set the JAVA_HOME and GRAILS_HOME path for your profile. Since we are installing Grails via zip binary so we need to tell the system that where is Grails and where is JAVA.

Open ~/.profiles file and add these lines at the top.

JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk
GRAILS_HOME=/usr/share/grails
PATH=$PATH:/usr/share/grails/bin
export JAVA_HOME PATH
export GRAILS_HOME PATH

And logout and login again and do

printenv

This will show you that Grails path is set for our profile.

Now just say

ganu@ganu:/usr/share/grails$ grails
Welcome to Grails 1.3.6 - http://grails.org/
Licensed under Apache Standard License 2.0
Grails home is set to: /usr/share/grails

Use ‘grails help’ for more info or ‘grails interactive’ to enter interactive mode

DONE !! WOW.

How to check where Groovy-Grails combination is working.

Go to your development Grails folder.

exploring mumbai for pav-bhaji

So yesterday was friday. I called my cousin After my office which is in borivali, and his office is in vikroli. I asked him dude, where to go.

He told, lets come to matunga central, you will get good pav-bhaji there. I think it was kings circle or maheshweri circle.
And I said wow, for 25 rs pav-bhaji we went all the way to matunga.

Reached there at 2230 and reached home at 0100 :D.

And at last we ended with awesome pav-bhaji, where pav is “lasan wala pav” then “eagle (goregaon) wala icecream { chiku and kesar flavor } 😛

But we explored a lot that day. That is how we called as pure food junkies. 😛

Wow, nice weekend is waiting for us.

jai ho lyrics hindi, awesome lyrics

movie experience at Maratha Mandir, Mumbai.

Oh!! wow!!!
Maratha Mandir, This is the same place which set the record in “Guinness Book of World Records”. And we planned to watch the movie in this theater.

Till today a daily matinee show is running for movie “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” ( दिलवाले दुल्हनिया ले जाएँगे ). And this theater has set the record from running this movie from last 13 years. Yea I said 13 years. wow !! isn’t that fantastic.

People used to ask me, oh you are in mumbai and you have not seen the movie in great Maratha Mandir. 🙂 So we decided to go there.

How to reach maratha mandir – Go to Mumbai Central railway station -> if you are at local sub-urban station go to east side then come out from Mumbai Central Main station main gate. Just in front of mumbai central main gate you can see the Maratha Mandir Movie Hall.

Yea, we are very fond of movies and on every weekend we go to EROS at late night show, but this time we thought for Maratha Mandir. 🙂

So we decided to go there. Me, and my friends decided to watch the movie “rab ne bana di jodi”. And I must say when I entered in the movie hall, the experience was so fantastic. Still the rates are cheap, we were not able to get the ticked at regular price but we got it in “black”. We got the upper circle ticket at rs. 100, the actual price was I think under 50. And as the same as usual way people were selling the black ticket with the same old fashion “100 ka, 150 ka, bolo bolo”. Enabling the old memories to see the ticket with dark orange color and dark blue color. 🙂 Written the date, time stamp and govt tax calculation.

The hall is still with old style movie hall, the seats are good, hall was clean and good air conditioned. It gives a kind of experience that you are really in a movie hall and watching the movie. Movie started and people started whistling even me too 🙂 And this gives awesome experience, when you do the same thing in multiplex this is treated as cheap 😦

The whole experience was awesome, nostalgic. And we decided to come again to watch DDLJ movie on any weekend day at matinee show.

So waiting for what go and watch, the old movie halls gives good experience to watch movie.

I am 27 now

Huff!! I am 27 now.
